Who We Are

Our Story

Peaceful Acres began in 1994 when Norman Cumben set out to give Nova Scotia families a compassionate, dignified way to say goodbye to their pets. From our location in Ellershouse, he introduced private cremation—using equipment designed specifically for pets and built with environmental safety in mind.

When Norman passed away in 2008, his wife and two sons carried forward his vision. Today, Peaceful Acres is a second-generation, family-owned service guided by the same values Norman instilled: compassion, honest work, and community trust throughout Nova Scotia.

Over 30 Years of Trusted Care

For more than three decades, families and veterinary partners across Nova Scotia have relied on Peaceful Acres for gentle guidance and respectful aftercare. With 78+ years of combined cremation experience, our family provides clear answers, steady support, and peace of mind when you need it most.
